Calendar of Events

More information is available below from other band members as they present their "bios". For now, the material consists of Drew Anthonys compositions, but that is subject to change. This is primarily going to be dance music that's worth listening to if you're not inclined to dance. So, watch for the "Blue Fox Orkestra"; , we're going to be around for a while. If not, there's always Strange But Drew to play the piano or guitar and sing for you. And then, plain old Drew Anthony might come out to do some "garage jazz" for us all. To contact, email Drew through this website, or call 707-829-7179.

The Blue Fox Project will journey to Sonoma County to play in the lovely town of Sebastopol, California. The venue is named Coffee Catz. It is right in town. To get to town, you travel up 101 North to the Rhonert Park exit, head west on highway 116, which is the left turn off the ramp. When you get to the center of town, head right at the biggest intersection you reach. There will be a sign for Bodega Highway. Coffee Catz is a few doors down on the right from the big Chevy dealership. It's tucked into a large, railroad building, off the road. The sign for the place is tiny, but the railroad building is pretty big, and hard to miss. The cafe is on the right hand side. Lots of parking, good food, no cover. Drew played the place solo last April. A few local artists and friends sat in to add spirit and it sounded great. A few of them will return to have fun with the project. This will be a great show. Anyone taking the big trip from town can e-mail us for details. It's Saturday, September 29, roughly 8 to 10 pm. All ages welcome, but they serve excellent wine.

SUN, AUG 26, 1:00 - 2:30 PM

@ SACRED GROUNDS CAFE

2095 HAYES @ COLE

Hey, its time again! This show brings Roger back, he was in the park last month with another event. This month, Dave is back from a month on the East coast. All these comings and goings! Last month, David invited a man named Robert to play his electric guitar with us. Want to take a moment to thank Robert very much. He played excellently. One got the feeling he worked his guitar with some downtown jazz combo. He had great chops! A drummer named Bill Keane comes to play with us once in a while. He's a friend of Roger's. Much like Ken Wills, or Anne Marie, you may not see much of these people very often, but what a great surprise when they drop in. The project is getting like that. Come out and enjoy!

SAT, SEPT 8, 8:30 - 10PM

BAY VIEW BOAT CLUB

@ 489 CHINA BASIN ST. PIER 54

AKA TERRY FRANCOIS BLVD

As was mentioned before, we had such a great time at the boat club, or "boatland", as David likes to call it, that we were invited back! That's one of the nicest compliments a band can get. These sorts of positive relationships between house and band always promise a great night out. Once again, a big friendly bar in a big friendly dance room, right on the water's edge, in good old San Francisco. No cover, but it is a private club, so you have to sign in.

We want to say thanks, to everybody on the mailing list, and anybody who heard us any other way for enjoying our stuff! Be it known that beginning in June, The Blue Fox Orkestra is "Back in the box" as it were! We'll be looking for new permanent members after the disk "Quest for the Blue Fox" is released. Until then, I'll be out solo, and with friends, playing the piano, having fun, experiencing my latest release, "Beads on a String". Find out more about this on the Music and Soundbites page. Contact Drew by email or call 415-467-1352.

...........................................................................

So, here we go for 2000! Beginning on Sunday afternoon, January 16, 1 to 3pm.

Parking is San Francisco! So, use the Hayes Street bus if you can; it stops right on Cole St., in front of the Sacred Grounds Cafe. You can also use the Haight or Fulton St. buses, get off at Cole Street, and navigate. Out-of-towners should come a little early. If you need to contact Sacred Grounds, call 415-387-3859.

...........................................................................

Played the Coffe Catz Cafe in Sebastopol, California on saturday night, April 8. It was an intimate two hour show, in a nice room, with a grand piano. Local musician and dj James Canter sat in on electric guitar for a few numbers, and an old friend, Steven Kessler, came up and banged on the drum. This was a special show, but with a 60 mile drive I just decided to do it for the local folks, some of whom have known me for some time. It was a sweet event.

...........................................................................

MAY 5 (CINCO DE MAYO!) DREW ANTHONY AND DAVE MAHALY performing from 7-9 pm @ the final bids of a silent art auction @ GALLERY LUSCOMBE 3040 24th ST. (@TREAT) Free, this is a neat place and Dave Mahaly is an even bigger treat! Come on out!

...........................................................................

SUN. MAY 28, A "MEMORIAL EVE" presentation of NEW COLLEGE OF CALIFORNIA @ "AMNESIA" 853 Valencia (Formerly the "Chameleon") 9-11 PM $3. Drew will host this event, as well as read a poem or two, do some spoken word, sing a few tunes. This is an alternative approcach to an American holiday that, like so many others, has gone "out of control". Promises to be a little different.

...........................................................................

SUN. JUNE 11, This notice if for die-hard fans! (ha ha!) It's because people will have to drive 65 miles north of the city to Santa Rosa. Once there, they go to the Health and Harmony Festival at the fairgrounds [ it costs money to get in and park, so I didn't want to make a big deal out of this for people; it's quite a hike] to see Drew play flute with many musical friends at the closing ceremonies of the show ! This is modest but special exposure for little 'ol me, and I'm very excited about it. There will be great people to meet at a great event. Maybe I'll see you there! Stories to follow!

This is a repeat of the format presented at LaScombe Art Gallery
back in the Mission on the night of Cinco de Mayo. Not only all sorts of
keyboard sounds, but "Doctor Dave" will probably treat us to a few strains
of his funky slide guitar, and you will probably hear some flutes and drums as well.
Not as much singing as usual, but a few new tunes, no doubt.
Perhaps a tune will be born that afternoon! Come on out and enjoy!

On the following thursday night, Nov. 2 [the Day of the Dead], at the Precita Eyes Mural Awareness Center in the Mission, 2981 24th St. at Harrison. 415-285-2287. Approximately 9pm.
Try to come early. And, strangely enough, by that time of night parking isn't too bad.

This is a very popular event. Lots of new people to meet! We will play in the back room. All ages are welcome, but it's a big event so there's a bar set up in the front where drinks are served. Come casual or dress-up. You're good both ways.

This time around, Ken Wills will be substituting for Dave Mihalay, though he's hardly a substitute, having contributed so much to the now-released DAE Records 002 "Quest for the Blue Fox". Also performing, Roger Segal, San Francisco Poet. Not only all sorts of keyboard sounds, but "Kenny Wheels" will treat us to his remarkable percussive flavors.

Perhaps a tune will be born that afternoon! This is our fourth go-around, and we want you to know, that if you haven't made it, you're missing the emergence of a brand-new feeling! Come on out!
